Cranbury, N.J. – June 4, 2010 – IXP Corporation, a leading public safety consulting and technology company, announced the IXP Endowed Football Scholarship to be awarded annually to full-time student-athletes in the Rutgers University Football program.

The purpose of the scholarship is to help enhance the educational experiences and opportunities for Rutgers’ student-athletes interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Justice or Business — and is awarded in accordance with NCAA guidelines.

IXP has pledged a total of $100,000, a demonstration of support for the values of the more than 140-year old tradition of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University.

According to Richard E. Dale, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IXP Corporation, the principals of IXP hope to positively affect the development of young people who strive for accomplishment in athletic competition and in the classroom. “Endowing this scholarship is our way of encouraging these athletes to value academics and sport, understanding that both are necessary to succeed,” says Mr. Dale.

Antonio Lowery, Rutgers’ 6’2″, 225-pound senior linebacker from Miami, Fla., was recently named the 2010 IXP Scholarship recipient during a ceremony held at the university’s state-of-the art Brown Family Recruiting Pavilion. Lowery, a stand out player known for his speed and athleticism on the field, is studying for his degree in Criminal Justice.

William E. Metro, IXP’s President and Chief Operating Officer, comments, “At IXP, we focus on meeting our clients’ needs, while also recognizing the importance of giving back to the local community. We value Rutgers University’s pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.”
